Dear Governor:
I am writing to voice my extreme displeasure over your signature of HB552
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT ACT.
As an owner of property in New Mexico I feel
betrayed and swindled. The bill that you signed into law, over very serious
objections and concerns from within your own administration, is little more than
an abandonment of your responsibilities to the
individual real property
owners of New Mexico and appears to be a sell out to big money development. With
the present
investigations tainting you with “pay to play” allegations, your
action in signing this bill only serves to give the appearance of
credence to
allegations of dirty politics and further allegations of payoffs, political
trades, and dirty deals for your benefit after
you leave office.
This appearance of blatant and obvious catering to big money developers has
angered me, and angers everyone with whom
I speak about this apparent sell
out. I demand that you call a special session to pass litigation to override the
obscenity of a law.
You are directly responsible for the abuses that will be
visited upon the real property owners of New Mexico in the form of
confiscatory taxes, depressed property values and a backlash against real
property purchase in New Mexico.
Do the right thing. Stand up to the special interests and start the process to repeal the law.
Yours truly,
